Hawaiian Hula Eyes was first penned in the 1940’s, so we added a vintage lap steel from Kanekila (man of steel), an upright bass from Jumpin’ Josh and some good old fashioned snare from Joe the Beachcomber.
Limahuli is a National Botanical Garden on the island of Kauai and inspired this pablus original to his one and only Amber Love Goddess. They walked in the mist together on their 7th anniversary – alone in the splendid tropical setting. Makana, the large mountain that many Haoles call “Bali Hai,” means “gift” and the stream that bubbles from its heights certainly makes it clear as to why. Kanekila is outstanding on his sweet steel stylings.

Wait For Me is a song we’ve enjoyed hearing Hiram Bell perform and so we stole it. Don’t tell anyone.
Hukilau Hurricane was an ode for Tiki Kiliki and Swanky, who underwent tremendous difficulty as a result of Hurricane Jeanne. It’s pretty evident what happened. King Kukulele relaxed the stranded while the Floridians fled to shore up their homes. pablus wrote this one with a bit of help from Jumpin’ Josh.
Beautiful Kauai has a nice swing feel, a manly-man’s chorus and bongos. What more could you want?
Kahiki Moon is dedicated to the now historical Kahiki Moon in Burlington, Vermont and its owner Primo Kimo. pablus wrote this one at the Lagoon Lounge, that graces the on-disc photo, with the help of Snake, Koka Nut, Rustiki and the ladies of the Lagoon. It’s a tropical nod to “To Keep My Love Alive” by Rodgers and Hart and must be played loudly. The wahines seem to love this one and that troubles us greatly.
Henehene Ko Aka is a Hawaiian standard that pablus adapted from a blatantly stolen riff of the Hawaiian dude in the Molokai Lounge after hours at the incredible Mai Kai. Kanekila swings on steel, Jumpin’ Josh jumps all over the uke.
Mele Kalikimaka is what happens when 6 Haoles, armed with ukes and one bass, gather around a single microphone on a hot, humid afternoon in late September.
Pass a Smile Along is an anthem written for Tiki Central, the center of all things Tiki on the web.
